Minimum pension payments

Each year, the Government sets a minimum percentage amount that you must withdraw from your Pension account. This percentage amount is based on your age and is known as a pension factor. You can refer to our pension factor table to find out the percentage for your age.

The applicable percentage for your age is then used by applying this to your account balance on 1 July each financial year, to calculate your new minimum drawdown payment amount.

When your new minimum drawdown amount is calculated at the start of every financial year, you may find you need to increase your regular pension payments from your account.

You can easily do this through Member Online:

  • Login to your account in Member Online
  • Click View payment plan for the Pension account you want to update.
  • Click Change payment plan on the right-hand side of the screen.
  • You can then change your Regular pension payment amount and/or your Payment frequency.

On 1 July 2023, the Government ended the temporary reduction of minimum drawdown rates that had been in place since 2020/21 as a COVID-19 relief measure. Minimum drawdown rates are now back to their default levels.
