A message from the CEO

It is with great pleasure that we officially welcome you to Brighter Super – the new name for the group that came about through the merger of LGIAsuper and Energy Super and the acquisition of Suncorp Super. Brighter Super is built on the foundations of three Queensland funds and represents the best of our heritage – serving members in energy, local government, and more broadly since 1965.

As a combined fund, we are a stronger fund. As many of you will know, there have been a lot of consolidation and mergers in the superannuation industry recently. By coming together with other like-minded funds, we are staying true to our foundations while adding size and scale that will keep us fit and strong for the future. It gives us the opportunity to deliver fee reductions for our 260,000 members, and to expand our ability to focus on delivering solid, long-term returns to help give you the best possible retirement outcomes.

Important dates

Last day BPAY payments can be made before the temporary suspension period.

The Energy Super Member Portal and mobile app will close, and you will not be able to transact or view your account on this portal after this date.

The Brighter Super Member Online and mobile app will go live with members able to register, login and access their accounts using the login details provided by Brighter Super.

First payment date for fortnightly pensions under the new Brighter Super cycle.

First payment date for monthly pensions under the new Brighter Super cycle.

Temporary suspension period

There will be a period where some member services will be temporarily suspended. We aim to keep this disruption to a minimum. The suspension period is between Wednesday 14 September 2022 and Sunday 25 September 2022.

Energy Super Member Portal and mobile app to close

The Member Portal and mobile app will close at 5.00 pm on Wednesday 14 September 2022, and you will not be able to transact or view your account on this portal after this date.

Registering for the Brighter Super Member Online and mobile app

From Monday 26 September 2022 you will be able to quickly register for Brighter Super Member Online and the mobile app. We will contact you with information on how to do this.

Processing of payments and contributions to be temporarily suspended

We will be unable to process any account requests during the suspension period of 5.00 pm Wednesday 14 September 2022 to Sunday 25 September 2022. This includes lump sum payments from Accumulation and Pension accounts, Death and Total and Permanent Disability (TPD) and Income Protection (IP) claims, contributions and new Pension account applications.

Consolidations suspended

Energy Super will not have access to the ATO SuperMatch tool from Thursday 8 September 2022 so we cannot use the tool to search for members' super with other funds or held by the ATO during this time. We will not be able to accept any Transfer Your Super forms after Thursday 8 September 2022 until Monday 26 September 2022.

For pension account holders: changes to pension payment dates

After the suspension period monthly payment dates will change to align to Brighter Super payment dates. This means that you'll receive your payments a few days later than you currently do. For members with a monthly payment your first payment will be on Wednesday 28 September 2022.

What you need to know

New member number

You'll be provided with a new member number. This will replace your client ID and will also be the number you use to log in to Brighter Super Member Online from Monday 26 September 2022. We'll send out your new member number with instructions to register for Member Online.

New USI

From Wednesday 14 September 2022 the Energy Super Unique Superannuation Identifier (USI) will close. The new USI will be QLG0001AU. You do not need to notify your employer of this change – we will communicate this change to all employers who pay contributions to us on members' behalf.

New BPAY details

If you currently make contributions to your account via BPAY, from Monday 26 September 2022 you will need to use a new BPAY reference number. Your new BPAY reference numbers will be available in the Brighter Super Member Online from Monday 26 September 2022.

New contact details

On Monday 19 September 2022, we will change our contact details.
